At Third Rock Energy, we’re a family‑run business based in Pontefract, West Yorkshire, supplying UK‑certified portable EV chargers and charging cables since 2019. We’ve lived and worked in the area for more than 25 years, and we bring that same sense of community, trust, and pride into everything we do.

Our mission is simple: Make EV charging safer, easier, and more accessible for drivers across the UK.

Where It All Began

After two decades working with some of the UK’s biggest brands and retailers, we wanted to build something of our own—something meaningful. Our passion for sustainability and the future of clean transport led us to the rapidly growing world of electric vehicles.

But as we researched the market, one issue stood out: The UK’s charging infrastructure wasn’t ready.

Drivers were excited about EVs, but many were worried about charging away from home. We saw an opportunity to help by specialising in portable EV charging solutions designed specifically for the UK’s unique electrical system.

And so, Third Rock Energy was born.

The UK’s domestic sockets are limited to 13A—unlike Europe’s 16A. Early on, we invested in a bespoke 13A circuit board for our portable chargers to ensure they are safe, reliable, and fully compatible with UK homes.
