All our 3 pin plug in chargers are specifically designed for safe use in the UK where domestic sockets are restricted to a 13A. This is different to the rest of Europe where domestic sockets have a 16A supply.
At Third Rock Energy, to ensure we only supply safe and compliant products, we have invested in bespoke circuit boards to ensure that our 3 pin domestic chargers are capped at 13A.
*PLEASE NOTE - 13 Amps is only suitable for short periods. For longer charging periods the 10A setting should be used.
Portable plug-in chargers are designed for your convenience allowing you to charge your vehicle just about anywhere using any 13A UK 3 pin domestic plug socket.
This portable charger has variable settings meaning you can select an output to suit your environment. Below are some examples of different uses for your convenience:
- 6A & 8A - Ideal for charging from Solar power or battery storage where the output is lower than from a conventional power source.
- 10A - Ideal for longer/overnight charging
- 13A - Ideal for a quicker charge when time is of the essence
This portable charger also benefits from a 5hr start delay function allowing you to take advantage of cheaper off peak tariffs.
SAFETY INFORMATION and ADVICE
Please ensure that your charger is plugged directly into a 3 pin socket and the socket is earthed and connected to your mains supply. Please do not use extension cables as this can lead to dangerous overheating and will void your product warranty. Please ensure the 3 pin plug is kept dry at all times and if using outdoors please use a waterproof rated socket.
Have the wiring in your property checked if you are charging from a 13A mains socket. Old wiring may not be able to cope with the demand putting your property at risk. An NICEIC-registered contractor will be able to do this for you.
Ideally you should have a new dedicated 3 pin socket installed which is specifically designed for use with EVs. These sockets will be BS 1363-2 and marked with EV
Check your charging cable frequently for signs of damage or wear and tear and replace it if any damage is evident
