This charger connects directly to a 16A CEE commando socket. For added flexibility, you can pair it with a 16A‑to‑13A adaptor (available on our EV accessories page) to charge from any UK domestic 3‑pin socket. When using the adaptor, simply set the charger to 13A or lower.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long will it take to charge my car?

There is a quick calculation you can do to determine the charging time. If you divide the size of the car battery by the kW's that the charging equipment is capable of, this will give you your charge time (0-100%)

A simple example is that one of our 3 Pin portable chargers which can delivery 3kW per hour will take 10hrs to fully charge a car with a 30kW battery (30/3). As always, if in doubt please feel free to contact us anytime and we will be happy to help

What is your delivery time?

We send all our deliveries using a next working day delivery. We state 1-2 days to allow for a variable collection times each day. Usually, if you order before 12pm (midday) you would usually receive your item the next working day. For example if you order on a Friday morning you will receive your item on the Monday.

Will this work with my car?

Most vehicles in the UK are Type 2 connections (especially post 2018) and all our Type 2 products are compatible. If you scroll to the top of this product page we have a handy vehicle checker available for you to use. If you cannot find your vehicle on the list, fell free to contact us and we will quickly be able to confirm this for you.

What is your warranty period?

We offer a 2 year warranty on all products (unless specifically stated). The warranty is managed directly by us so we usually turn around any issues within a couple of days. If you have any specific questions about our warranties, please contact us anytime

What cable length should I go for?

There are two main considerations when choosing the best cable length.

1. The cable should run loosely along the ground to reduce the risk if tripping. If the distance between your power source and your car is 7-8 metres, go for a 10 metre cable.

2. Think about where you are likely to charge your car the second most often and make sure you allow enough cable to reach your power source at both locations comfortably.

I'm very happy with the Third Rock ev charger

I'm very happy with the 16 amp ev charger with a Commando CEE type plug it is now operational wired from a dedicated supply with a 16 amp RCBO circuit breaker.
The charger is easy to setup the charging rate
and displays useful information on the screen.

16A commando lead

Very fast delivery, well made and is working well as described apart from my MG4 doent seem to like the lower 6 and 8A modes but it's not a problem. Fine on 10,13 and 16A modes. Easy to use, a lot cheaper than a full blown 32A ev charge point if you only need a lower/ longer charge eg for solar charging too.

Perfect for my needs

With a PHEV that only charges at 3.6kw/h and a detached garage with a 20 amp supply, I could not get a 16 amp wall charger. I did not want to use the Granny Charger so had a commando plug wired to the outside wall of the garage.
This is just perfect and charges the car at the fastest possible rate with no risk.

Fantastic product, the 16 amp commando charger is well built easy to use and charged my PHEV in under 3 hrs, which for a car with a small on board charger this is excellent, i am very happy with the product and excellent service, ill certainly use you for my future EV charging needs

The website was easy to use and when i had a few questions the were prompt to respond to my emails, the commando 16 amp Charger i bought is very easy to use well put together and charged my PHEV in just under three hours which for a PHEV with a small on board charger is better than i could have expected, Other cars can and will charge quicker. I'm beyond happy with the whole experience and the charger itself is amazing, and was delivered in two days as expected, Thank you Third rock energy. I highly recommend Third rock energy for all your charging needs.
