To ensure safe and reliable charging, please follow these guidelines:

🔌 Use a direct 3‑pin socket Always plug your charger directly into a properly earthed 3‑pin mains socket. Do not use extension cables, as they can cause dangerous overheating and will void your warranty.

💧 Keep plugs dry Ensure the 3‑pin plug remains dry at all times. If charging outdoors, only use a waterproof‑rated socket.

🏠 Check your property wiring If charging from a 13A mains socket, have your wiring inspected. Older wiring may not safely handle the demand. An NICEIC‑registered contractor can carry out this check for you.

⚡ Install a dedicated EV socket For best results, consider installing a new 3‑pin socket designed specifically for EVs. These sockets are BS 1363‑2 compliant and marked “EV.”

🔍 Inspect your charging cable Regularly check your cable for signs of wear or damage. Replace it immediately if any issues are found.

How long will it take to charge my car?

There is a quick calculation you can do to determine the charging time. If you divide the size of the car battery by the kW's that the charging equipment is capable of, this will give you your charge time (0-100%)

A simple example is that one of our 3 Pin portable chargers which can delivery 3kW per hour will take 10hrs to fully charge a car with a 30kW battery (30/3). As always, if in doubt please feel free to contact us anytime and we will be happy to help

What is your delivery time?

We send all our deliveries using a next working day delivery. We state 1-2 days to allow for a variable collection times each day. Usually, if you order before 12pm (midday) you would usually receive your item the next working day. For example if you order on a Friday morning you will receive your item on the Monday.

Will this work with my car?

Most vehicles in the UK are Type 2 connections (especially post 2018) and all our Type 2 products are compatible. If you scroll to the top of this product page we have a handy vehicle checker available for you to use. If you cannot find your vehicle on the list, fell free to contact us and we will quickly be able to confirm this for you.

What is your warranty period?

We offer a 2 year warranty on all products (unless specifically stated). The warranty is managed directly by us so we usually turn around any issues within a couple of days. If you have any specific questions about our warranties, please contact us anytime

What cable length should I go for?

There are two main considerations when choosing the best cable length.

1. The cable should run loosely along the ground to reduce the risk if tripping. If the distance between your power source and your car is 7-8 metres, go for a 10 metre cable.

2. Think about where you are likely to charge your car the second most often and make sure you allow enough cable to reach your power source at both locations comfortably.

Good quality cable

Good quality cable, I am able to alter the amperage easily. Useful storage bag and velcro straps to store it away tidily. Very efficient delivery - got it the next working day and meant it was there the same day I picked up my EV. Would definitely use third rock energy again.

We bought the 15m cable, it is well made and does the job perfectly. Shipping was fast, would highly recommend.

Excellent well made product. Good to have a delay start timer and to be able to change the output. I did find the instructions of the timer and output setup a bit confusing, they could have been written a bit better.

Better than Screwfix

Had it for a couple of weeks, actually bought two separate brands, the other one being from Screwfix/BnQ. This one, the Third Rock Energy charger, was so much better, could handle a higher amperage for faster charging and was far more robust. Absolutely confident in my purchase after using it.

Quality

The quality was good and came pretty quick. Its my first dip into electric cars. When using the 'granny charger', my outside sockets would trip at the 13A & 10A. I then tried 6A and said the current was too low. So tried 8A and works. So must be finding the sweet spot for your power supply. Also the cable was 15 metres which might hinder the power transfer. So far so good at 8A. It might just be the outside socket supply not that good.

purchased the 15 m cable as the one supplied with the car (BYD) wasnt long enough and didnt really want to use an extension, i set it to 10 amps and charges quite quickly and only gets warm at the plug, the screen tells you all the info you need and is clear, although having a wall charger fitted this is great for emergencys and in my opinion well worth the money!

Brilliant kit

Hi absolutely love your product but unfortunately I measured it wrong parked in my spot to measure and didn’t park nose in I parked back in which made it to short totality p off my fault charge point is on near side so will have to put it on eBay and save up will have to back local pod point. And sit in vehicle until charged as my vehicle is motability but saving the penny’s for 20 mtr thanks,,,Brett

A great back up cable for when I'm away from home. Good quality, well put together and comes with a good quality storage bag.

I needed a cable for when im out and about and so the 15m cable to 3pin plug was a great idea. I have a wall charger at home too but the cable is a good back up. Variable charge levels for all home electrics and a neat and tify carry case included. Can't fault it.
